From bare RouterOS to a billing system
A MikroTik router is the workhorse of African WiFi, but RouterOS alone does not sell bundles, collect M-PESA or MTN MoMo, or expire a plan cleanly after a reboot. XenFi is the MikroTik billing software that completes the picture: your router keeps doing what it is good at, and the cloud handles plans, payments, authentication and the books.
Setup is honest work, not a science project. The router points at XenFi's cloud RADIUS, your bundles go in front of the hotspot as a branded portal, and MikroTik PPPoE billing runs beside it for monthly clients, with speed profiles and caps enforced at queue level. When something needs a hand, remote access reaches the router without a site visit.

- Any MikroTik running RouterOS with hotspot or PPPoE capability, from a hEX or RB951 in a shop to CCRs behind a multi-town network.
- Do I need to host FreeRADIUS myself?
- No. XenFi's cloud RADIUS replaces a self-hosted FreeRADIUS billing setup: authentication, accounting and plan enforcement run in the cloud.
- Can XenFi manage PPPoE and hotspot on the same router?
- Yes. Hotspot bundles and PPPoE subscriptions run side by side on the same MikroTik, each billed from its own plans.
- What happens to sessions when the router reboots?
- Plans and expiries live in the cloud, not in the router's memory, so a reboot does not hand out free internet or lose paid time.
